STEP 1

Open Control Panel and click Network and Internet.

Click Network and Sharing Center.

Click Change Adapter Settings.

Right click on Local Area Connection.

Click Properties.

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4) and click Properties.

STEP 7

Tick Use the following DNS server addresse.

Type in 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 just like on the screen below.

Click OK.

STEP 8

1. Right-click on same network adapter

2. select Status

1. Click details

STEP 10

Under network connection details, you will see 8.8.8.8, and 8.8.4.4 as DNS servers. This is a confirmation that DNS has been set.

1. Click on Close button, then click on Close button again.

STEP 11

Click Windows Start Button

1. type in the search box "cmd"

2. click the cmd button

STEP 12

In command prompt, type in nslookup google.com and press enter key, you will see 8.8.8.8 DNS server is used to resolve website google.com. This is a confirmation that DNS has been set and is working.

STEP 13

To clear DNS cache on Windows XP, type in ipconfig /flushdns and press enter key.
